The Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology is an exceptional 3 physician 100% endocrine consultative practice. Two physicians are currently practicing out-patient endocrinology, and our third non-practicing physician is our lab director. We mainly draw referrals from Southern Oregon and Northern California, but we do have patients coming in from as far away as Nevada, Idaho, Montana, and Washington. We are proud of our full-time high-quality staffing, including CDE. There is a sophisticated, full-service on-site laboratory with protocols for provocative endocrine testing. We are involved in clinical research protocols. We have Nerve Conduction equipment. We perform thyroid sonography and FNA Cytology.

Our practice is experiencing on-going phenomenal growth – we are seeing a total of 4-6 new patients a day. Medford has become a major medical epicenter with two large hospitals ( Rogue Valley Medical Center and Providence Medical Center ), full specialty and sub-specialty care and hospitalist coverage. No primary care responsibilities. Our after-hours call coverage is very light, with infrequent phone calls and seldom hospital visits. Unstable patients are admitted to the hospital by the hospitalist staff. This is a superb professional opportunity for an endocrinologist to focus entirely on advanced out-patient endocrinology with only minor hospital responsibilities, and to gain great quality of life for you and your family. This position would put you on track for partnership, as this is a wholly physician-owned corporation.

The Rogue Valley area (Medford and Ashland, Oregon) is currently growing with a good influx of retirees (mostly Californians) moving to the area. It has the qualities of a smaller town without the hassle of big-city life, and yet still provides many similar cultural opportunities. Ashland, Oregon is well known for its Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Founded in 1935, the 8 Tony Award-winning Shakespeare Festival (OSF) is among the oldest and largest professional non-profit theatres in the nation with multiple stages hosting Shakespearean, as well as contemporary plays, throughout the year. Medford is known for its beautifully restored Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater, which offers a full lineup of events, from concerts to ballet and more. The Britt Festival in near-by Jacksonville brings in world class musicians. Southern Oregon University is located in nearby Ashland. Both Ashland and Jacksonville are known "tourist magnets" and people love shopping in the varied and eclectic shops and enjoying the high-quality restaurants in the area. There is a nice shopping mall in Medford, Rogue Valley Mall, anchored by Macys. One of the largest mail-order companies in the country, Harry and David is based here in Medford.

We are located in the beautiful Rogue River Valley of Southern Oregon, just north of the California border. The valley is blessed with beautiful vistas - the surrounding rolling hills are covered with orchards that supply the local fruit companies and are a beautiful sight to behold. The valley is surrounded by high-mountain lakes, world-class fishing, and gives the opportunity for a myriad of outdoor activities. Mt. Ashland Ski Mountain is just a 30 minute drive up the mountain and offers great winter recreational opportunities such as skiing and snowboarding, etc. Mt. Bachelor ski resort at Bend, Oregon and Mt. Shasta are also well-known nearby ski resorts.

The spectacular Crater Lake National Park is just 70 miles north of town, and the beautiful Mount Shasta is just 89 miles to the south. The beautiful Oregon and California coastlines, and the majestic redwood forests (Redwood National Parks), are just 2 hours to the west. San Francisco is a 6 hour drive to the south. Portland, Oregon is a 4.5 hour drive to the north. The The Rogue Valley International Airport has direct flights to Portland, Phoenix, San Francisco, LAX, Orange County, Seattle, Salt Lake City, and Denver.

The weather in the Rogue Valley is more similar to Northern California weather than to the typical western Oregon weather. We do not have the grey, gloomy winters, or the heavy rainfall, that they get in the Portland area. Winters are typically sunny. Summers are hot, but not humid – perfect weather for enjoying a lazy summer day on one of the local mountain lakes, or exploring one of the beautiful local vinyards, such as Paschal Winery (photo below).

If you are interested please call us or email us and we'd be happy to mail you a packet with more details. As stated above, we are offering a guaranteed salary at a level above the national average. We plan that the new doctor would be on a partnership track after the 1st year. Relocation expenses are included.
